7 Incredible Ways to Automate Your Marketing Campaigns.

CATEGORY

Startup marketing teams tend to be understaffed. Especially with the hiring freeze and layoffs going on now. It is more important now more than ever, to automate important funnels in your marketing

Tech startups are notorious to operate lean companies in terms of employee hiring. You’re most likely to see more software engineers or product people as staff in a startup than see marketing staff.

Startup marketing teams tend to be understaffed. Especially with the hiring freeze and layoffs going on now. It is more important now more than ever, to automate important funnels in your marketing campaign to avoid burn-out and overload.

With marketing automation, three people can do the work of twenty.

Here are 7 crucial places to automate your marketing campaigns and growth funnel flow;

1. Onboarding Emails

Intercom and other Customer Relationship Management(CRM) tools can help you design and implement an onboarding based on the days, actions and inactions of your new customers.

It is highly unproductive to manually onboard every new signup or registration your company gets. Design an onboarding flow, and create a messaging board ( email, sms, popups, in-app messages) that’ll automatically get delivered in the first few days of getting a new customer.

2. Re-activation/Churn Customers

They’re usually a significant percentage of your customers who haven’t performed the required actions like;

i. Used your app or visited your website in the last 30/60/90 days
ii. Taken an action e.g. (made a transaction)
iii. Open an email, subscribe to a plan, cancel a plan, etc.

These categories of customers need to be clearly defined, and automated marketing plans implement in order re-activate them, get feedback, increase retention, and LifeTime Value.

How are you engaging customers who have last used your product or performed an action in the last 30 days?

3. Marketing Campaigns

You can automate re-occurring quarterly or yearly marketing campaigns like black Friday, Valentine, and Christmas campaigns, etc.

i. The same performing ads used for the 2022 Black Friday Campaign can be edited with just the dynamic assets changed, and used for the 2023 campaign.

ii. You can design automated messaging ( sms, email, popups, etc) for any segments of your customers or customers acquired during a marketing campaign.

4. Customer Marketing

Marketing automation is crucial for any startup looking to improve its customer marketing and retention strategies.

Think about automating birthdays, registration, and milestone messaging. You can also use this to give rewards to improve loyalty and retention.

i. You can gift 5 free transactions to a customer who has reached a milestone of 100 transactions, etc.
ii. You can give your customers a 10-50% off deal on their birthdays (make it special)

There are a lot of other ways to automate customer marketing. Look at what’s peculiar to your company, and use it to improve customer loyalty and retention.

5. Social Media

Content scheduling tools like Buffer will save you hundreds of hours of time spent trying to juggle social media posts across different platforms.

This is even crucial when you have to deal with 4 and above social media channels. Automate like your life depends on it. The content scheduler makes your channel busy even when you’re asleep.

6. Content Creation

You can speed up your content creation, email copy, ads copywriting etc. by allowing AI to do the preliminary work while you edit to produce a perfect outcome.

7. Marketing Analytics

As a marketer, I spend at least an hour per day checking all my analytics tools. From Google Search Console to Google Analytics, Intercom, Fullstory, Metabase, Mixpanel, etc.

What if you connect all the most important data you need from all these tools to a single dashboard like Google Data Studio or Tableau? You wouldn’t have to check a dozen tools to find all the information you need.
